With 13 additional settlements, Orebić is part of a municipality extending over an area of 113,13 square kilometres. The municipality of Orebić administratively belongs to the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, and geographically to the Pelješac peninsula, connected to the mainland by the Ston isthmus.

Orebić is located in the southwest of Pelješac, in the hilliest part. It lies below the 961m high peak of St. Elias, in the narrowest part of the Pelješac channel. Across Pelješac, the view oversees the medieval town of Korčula, on the eponymous island. Orebić is connected to Korčula by ferry.
