An autumn to remember on Pelješac

The first day of autumn is the beginning of a new adventure
Although Pelješac is definitely different in autumn than in the high summer season, this is the time to enjoy some other types of activities. Depending on when you arrive, the end of September and the first half of October are still ideal for swimming. The sea is warm, temperatures are pleasant, the summer crowds are over, there is something special in the air anywhere you go.
This is the perfect time to explore and choose between Pelješac’s many hidden beaches. Rent a kayak or a small boat and find your own private beach. This is the best time for a vacation.
In the evening, take a walk through Orebić, famous for its captain history, where you can still see luxury villas from the 18th and 19th century and their rich gardens with various plants the captains had brought back from their distant travels.
Active autumn
Autumn is also a good time for cycling, walking or hiking activities. Pelješac’s highest and most interesting hiking peak is the mountain of Sv. Ilija above Orebić. If you are a fan of mountain biking, this is the perfect place to explore the countryside by many mountain and forest trails. The highlight of autumn events – Pelješac Wine Cellar Open Days.
If you are a wine lover, this manifestation is a must. This year, book December 1st and 2nd and visit Pelješac, the wine peninsula famous for plavac mali. The biggest celebrations in honour of this wine variety are held precisely at the beginning of December. The entire Pelješac joins this celebration. The manifestation starts in the early morning in Ston, wine cellar tours are organized on the entire peninsula, and the closing party is held in Potomje, the “winest” place on Pelješac.
